Love, Truth and Freedom - World Leadership Day Theme
The theme ‘Love, Truth and Freedom’ resonates very strongly with me as a person who is trying to be the best person she can be in this lifetime.
It’s challenging to be a ‘good person’ in this time. The forces around me still insist it is ‘better’, it is ‘safer’ to subterfuge, to hide yourself, in order to find advantage.
But what if your heart’s desire isn’t to take advantage? Suppose your whole intention and purpose are to have peacefulness and harmony within and around you?
Then all your dynamics change… Your whole competitive spirit realigns. The ‘fight’ within you gets redirected to peacefulness, to methods of peace. You seek peace wherever you look.
And you find it.
Living my Truth has got me to question many of the ‘realities’ of life, since the markers that had been set for satisfaction and success stopped being significant quite some time ago. They just aren’t relevant.
My Freedom feels far more important…
And so here we come to the next phase of our Theme: that of Freedom.
A strong desire for freedom of my Self, especially my mind, has propelled my many choices over time. I have had to practically scream out loud, and in, ‘I am not a slave!’ The significance of this, given my background as inheritor of a history of slavery, is substantial in my place of birth and residence. We often say that we are free but still bound up in Thinking.
But if only it were only the persons directly traced to slavery who had the difficulties – and heavy ones – associated with free minds and free thinking! Hardly…
Recognising that Freedom implies lightness, flow, own decisions based on one’s own parameters for living, is quite a major leap for many, in all parts of the world.
We are not free as yet, many, MANY of us, though I sense we want to be all the way.
But how much? How much do we want to be the true person we’re created to be? How much of our birthright are we forfeiting, while we continue to look at the sign posts which have little usefulness in ‘real’ lives?
And now, onto Love. What is this? Who knows this? How does this feel? Is it really there? Out there, somewhere? Or inside?
I daresay the answer to these questions are linked to the question I’ve mentioned of how much do we want to be free… to feel love, to give love, to be love, especially to Self…
Love is the ultimate Truth, the ultimate Freedom… simply, the Ultimate.
In a world where mental constraint and confine are sadly the order of the day and evidently the lead to lives of scarcity and fear and competition, I now say that the key to our (self) release to Freedom, to Creativity, to peace and good humour, is considering Love and all it means to us; all that it could mean.
As an Ambassador for World Leadership Day 2009 I am honoured to have an opportunity to apply this greatly resonant Theme to my choices, to my decisions for this tremendous occasion. And as I continue to seek to live my Truth, I embrace Love as my vehicle to my Freedom, firstly by loving myself enough to access it: my birthright, my Freedom.
Peace and Love to All.

Sherri, wonderful blog. It’s great to see you!
I just got back too here.
Thank you for sharing and spreading love and light Sherri. This is a wonderful exposition on love, truth and freedom. Love is indeed the ultimate for God is love. And how wonderful that we all can achieve that, to be God-like, by being in love.
love and light,
Samme
Way to go! You should be so happy that you are learning some of these things so early in life. It took me (and many of my friends) much longer to catch on to some of these truths. In fact, I’m still learning every day how to live my truth. So glad we can all be examples of that and support one another in our strengths and love. Blessings!
All is love :-)
Now back to nothing. Ommmm
Every once in a while, one needs a boot up the ol’ arss, Sherrilene.
To be reminded of the freedom that each of us are capable of upholding, is a truth that gets away from us–from time to time, and needs replenishing of through posts like this.
From my heart to yours…..I love your quality and strength.
God Bless…(((HUGS)))
Loving ALL your beautiful comments. It’s so great to know such incredible people are out there in the world. Please keep being… period.
Blessings! Sherrilene
Loving your true expression of love and freedom Sherri..
Great to have you back my friend…: )

Ange..
Sherri, whenever I read your words, I feel I have heard you talk. That is the freedom of the words you write. Thank you.
so lovely to see you back, love
thank you for this blog
Lovely to be back. I missed being among you guys! And thank you so much for your endorsement and fine words. I bask in that pleasurable acceptance of my Truth now :)
Happy! Sherrilene
absolutely beautiful Sherri.
love, freedom and truth
Love is the ultimate Truth, the ultimate Freedom… simply, the Ultimate.
So true. I see, hear, and feel power in your words, Sherri.
Great to hear from you! Love always, Sherri
Your powerful words (and I agree with Meenakshi that while reading it, I am also listening to your speech) hit me right on!
Delighted to have found these golden quotes from you:
“We are not free as yet, many, MANY of us, though I sense we want to be all the way.”
“Love is the ultimate.”
Hugs and big love to you, my sister, friend, angel!
Mila and Meenakshi, indeed I write as I speak. I even told a well wisher that was kindly drawing a ‘typo’ to my attention that I saw the ‘error’ but I don’t edit for propriety any more. It’s exactly as I would have said it ‘live’, to get my point across, so I wouldn’t change it now or after I’d posted…
I am so pleased I was able to touch you! Each day the solidness of my friend and soul circle is becoming more real… I’m really looking forward to a more deep future!
Peace and blessings again!
Sherri
A deep & powerful (wo)manifesto. Love, truth & freedom, a theme that will resonate strongly with any aspiring leader. Actually, I read it out loud to myself,
it has the flow of a great speech too. I like your choice to focus on the inward freedom, love of self & living our individual truth. It surely is from a place of congruence within that any outward progress can be made, something some leaders in the world seem to have missed. I think an essential point for very young, idealistcic aspiring leaders to address. I certainly recall a younger version of me being fired up about the issues of the world without necessarily walking the talk all the way on the inside. -Hands clapping, this is grreat stuff Sherri : )
oh.. your thoughts made me think of this one from one of the main dudes:
The outward freedom that we shall attain will only be in exact proportion
to the inward freedom to which we may have grown at a given moment.
And if this is a correct view of freedom, our chief energy must be
concentrated on achieving reform within.
Gandhi.
Oh! Tara, outstanding!
Somehow that man called Gandhi always ‘gets’ to me! He surely practised his stuff! If only the ‘powers that be’ would have seriously listened…
Concepts like peace and self mastery somehow ended up being perceived and treated as the hardest things to achieve; I am certain, because we’ve continued to pile pressure onto ourselves to achieve some mystical goal which we haven’t been able to clearly identify, ever. We just know we’re not enough!
All of these recent events where those that were supposedly hugely ‘successful’ were actually faking sincerity completely, are a demonstration that all that we ‘know’ should be questioned with a very level head. It is the least we could do to start leading us in the right direction!
Thank you so much. I appreciate this. Love, Sherri
Oh Sherri….
Thanks for linking to this blog again. What strikes me is that in our countries that allow us freedom of thinking and of being, we have so little freedom inside. I was recently talking to a Polish man who ran from his country when it was still behind the iron curtain and we were discussing what it was like to live in a communist country at that time. Now is he the only person who can truly enjoy the meaning of freedom because he knows what it is like to be deprived of any rights? How much do we take for granted and as a result, how often do we ignore our own inner cage? The one built with strings of musts, and donts, and shoulds and negative beliefs? Yes, freedom to be me, for me and everyone else. Me in love… as I agree with your post: love is the ONLY way. Love just is.
Love
'our own inner cage? The one built with strings of musts, and donts, and shoulds and negative beliefs?'
How many of our own limiting rules we create… I couldn't agree more…
With love, Sherri
